Healthcare Needs Healing Too “As violence and mistrust rise, Kashmir’s medical community must look inward and rebuild its bond with society. Peerzada Mohsin Shafi  In recent weeks, there has been an overwhelming buzz surrounding the medical community in Kashmir, sparked by the unfortunate incident at SMHS Hospital Srinagar and GMC Jammu where an attendant allegedly slapped and misbehaved with a doctor on duty. The impact of this event has reverberated not only in daily conversations but across social media platforms as well, with people passionately debating the actions and reactions that followed. The strike by doctors, the closure of the emergency section at the tertiary hospital and the inquiry set up by the Health Ministry to determine whether the emergency block functioned during the strike have all contributed to an ongoing public discourse. The inquiry is expected to deliver its findings in coming days, shedding light on the whole scenario and importantly whether eme...

The road is fully macadamized from the District Headquarters in Anantnag all the way to Kapran, and even beyond. The road starts at Verinag and passes through prominent villages like Kokagund and Nowgam. At Chowgund, it diverges into two roads: one connects villages like Rain, Koot, Heward, and Dudhwagan, while the other connects villages like Qammar. The original road converges again, leading to destinations like Reshipora, Kapran, Gawas, Chohhan, and Dedibal. The road connectivity is good, and the area has enormous potential for tourism and other renewable resources. Sarbal Lake, located in this region, is a ...

Karbala: A Time for Reflection, Not Just Remembrance “Live the Legacy of Hussain, Beyond Words, Through Deeds." Peerzada Mohsin Shafi Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar holds immense historical and spiritual significance for Muslims worldwide. It is not just the beginning of a new year but a time for reflection, especially when we remember the tragic event of the Battle of Karbala. The legacy of Imam Hussain ibn Ali (PBUH), the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), continues to resonate in the hearts of Muslims, inspiring them to uphold values of justice, integrity, and truth. However, Muharram is not simply about marking a historical event but it is an opportunity to assess our own lives and question which side of history we stand on. Are we truly following the principles of Imam Hussain or have we inadvertently aligned ourselves with the oppressive ideologies represented by Yazeed? The Battle of Karbala was not just a military confrontation. It was a ...
