The Worst Good Bye

Image
The Worst Good Bye Peerzada Mohsin Shafi A son once held close, now grown and free Has left his mother, alone to be Her heart aches with a bittersweet pain As memories flood back like pouring rain She remembers the first time he cried When she held him close and dried his eyes She watched him grow, day by day Proud of the man he became in every way But now he's gone, and she's left behind An empty home and a troubled mind She wishes him well, with all her heart But she can't help feeling torn apart She remembers the times they laughed and played The love and joy that never strayed But now those memories are all she has As she sits alone, her heart feeling sad The house is quiet, too quiet indeed A place that once held life and need Now just an empty shell, hollow and bare As she wonders if her son still cares Her heart longs for the sound of his voice To once again feel his loving embrace But time moves on, and so must he Leaving her alone, in her misery

But it's not just the finances that suffer, Mental health too takes a major buffer, Depression and anxiety take hold, As unemployment's grip refuses to unfold. The young and old alike feel the strain, The hopelessness causing endless pain, Dreams shattered, aspirations crushed, Their souls and hearts forever hushed. But in the midst of this darkened fate, There's still a glimmer of hope, though late, For unity and support can ease the weight, And turn the tide towards a brighter fate. So let's stand together and lend a hand, To help our fellow Kashmiris stand, To ease their suffering, lift them up, And restore the ligh...

The Traditional Kashmiri House, The Saga of Engineering

The Traditional Kashmiri House, The Saga of Engineering Peerzada Mohsin Shafi (Member American Society of Civil Engineers, USA) Buildings constructed in a traditional way by the people become an integral part of the local cultural heritage. These buildings often reflect the strength of the community to house itself independent of any outside intervention. They are a manifestation of architectural systems optimized over time for a particular context with regard to climate, soil or the threat of natural disasters. Constructed from local materials with local skills and a deep understanding of local social and economic constraints, traditional architecture is in many aspects sustainable architecture. Traditional architecture in many places continues to evolve, and Kashmiri rural architecture is no exception. A number of building systems in various parts of Kashmir have developed over time to accommodate local natural and cultural factors, including the impact of earthquakes. These sys...
