The Worst Good Bye

 The Worst Good Bye

Peerzada Mohsin Shafi

A son once held close, now grown and free

Has left his mother, alone to be

Her heart aches with a bittersweet pain

As memories flood back like pouring rain

She remembers the first time he cried

When she held him close and dried his eyes

She watched him grow, day by day

Proud of the man he became in every way

But now he's gone, and she's left behind

An empty home and a troubled mind

She wishes him well, with all her heart

But she can't help feeling torn apart

She remembers the times they laughed and played

The love and joy that never strayed

But now those memories are all she has

As she sits alone, her heart feeling sad

The house is quiet, too quiet indeed

A place that once held life and need

Now just an empty shell, hollow and bare

As she wonders if her son still cares

Her heart longs for the sound of his voice

To once again feel his loving embrace

But time moves on, and so must he

Leaving her alone, in her misery
