Homesick

Homesick

Peerzada Mohsin Shafi

As I leave my home, my heart begins to ache,

For in my cozy haven, I did not want to forsake.

But the call of duty, it beckoned me away,

And so I must go, without much delay.

The roads feel longer, the world seems colder,

As I venture out, with a heavy heart, much bolder.

The familiar warmth of home, it's now far away,

And I feel so homesick, with every step I take.

The hustle and bustle of the city, it overwhelms me,

As I struggle to find my place, amidst the cacophony.

The laughter and joy of my loved ones, I miss them so,

As I trudge on, with a heart that's feeling low.

But as I step into my workplace, a change takes hold,

For the familiarity of my colleagues, it makes me bold.

Their warmth and kindness, it brings me some solace,

As I try to find my footing, amidst the office's hustle.

The day goes on, with its usual highs and lows,

But amidst it all, I find myself beginning to compose,

A sense of purpose, a drive to succeed,

As I remind myself, of the reasons for which I lead.

And as I return home, at the end of the day,

My heart feels lighter, in every possible way.

For though I miss my haven, my abode so dear,

I know that my journey has helped me conquer my fear.

For now I see, that though home is where the heart is,

There is much to be gained, from venturing out amidst the abyss.

For in the trials and tribulations of life's journey,

We find the strength to grow, and learn to be worthy.
