Amalgam

Amalgam

Peerzada Mohsin Shafi

Sorrow and joy, they come and go, Like tides that ebb and flow,

One moment we're on top of the world, The next we're crushed and curled.

Employment and unemployment, They too are fickle friends,

One day we have a job to do, The next we search for ends.

Sadness, it too is ever-present, A shadow that follows us through life,

A reminder that not all is perfect, That sometimes we'll feel strife.

Kashmir, a land of beauty and pain, A place where hope and despair remain,

A promise unfulfilled, a dream unattained, A land that knows both love and disdain.

Exploitation, a word so cruel, A reminder of the power games we play,

Of how the weak are often used, And how justice is led astray.

So let us remember these things, The sorrow, joy, and all that life brings,

And let us work towards a better world, Where love and justice are unfurled.
